Managing Principal Gary Sorden Pens Priori Legal Article on Trade Secrets
DALLAS – Klemchuk LLP, a leading intellectual property (IP), technology, and business law firm, announces Gary Sorden, Managing Principal, authored the IP article published on the Priori Legal website on March 22, 2017. In the article “Trade Secret Takeaways from Waymo v. Uber,” Sorden discusses the dangers of misappropriation of trade secrets by considering the case of Waymo vs. Uber, in which LiDAR technology — used in Uber’s self-driving cars — was allegedly stolen by Anthony Levandowski during his time in Waymo, LLC.
The article discusses ways that companies can prevent disclosure of trade secrets such as encrypting valuable information, including non-competition clauses on employment agreements and implementing investigation processes as part of the employee exit process. It also covers the possibility of pursuing litigation as acquired trade secrets can give a “head-start” to competitors.
Sorden is experienced in IP law and primarily focuses on commercial and intellectual property litigation in the areas of software, electrical, mechanical, semiconductor, and chemical technologies. Sorden earned a J.D. from Texas Tech School of Law, a M.S. in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas – Pan American.
