Lunch & Learn: AI for Lawyers, 2026 – The Tools, Your Data, and Your Billing Model

AI for Lawyers, 2026 – The Tools, Your Data, and Your Billing Model

DALLAS, Texas — Klemchuk PLLC and Engage Workspace for Lawyers are co-sponsoring a Lunch & Learn event on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Engage’s co-working space in Dallas.

In just two years, artificial intelligence has gone from an experiment to a regular business expense for law firms of all sizes. But as firms continue investing in AI tools, important questions remain: Are they getting real value from these investments? What happens to confidential client information when these tools are introduced? And how will AI-driven efficiencies impact the traditional billable hour?

Join Shane Reid, CEO of USC Data, for a practical discussion about the evolving role of AI in law firms, the importance of understanding and protecting your data, and what these changes could mean for your firm's profitability.

Topics will include:

  • AI tools in today's law firms: Which tools firms are using and what they actually deliver.

  • What happens to your data: Understanding how AI tools access, store, and potentially use information within your firm's files.

  • Client confidentiality and data security: Identifying potential risks when AI interacts with sensitive client information.

  • What's hiding in your files? Why understanding, organizing, and securing your existing data matters before implementing AI and automation.

  • The future of the billable hour: How AI-driven efficiencies could disrupt traditional billing models as we move into 2027.

  • Protecting profitability: Rethinking billing structures based on the actual cost of delivering legal services so efficiency gains strengthen rather than erode margins.

With a background in financial services and nearly a decade helping organizations organize, secure, and manage their data, Shane brings a practical, business-focused perspective to the AI conversation.

Whether your firm is just beginning to explore AI or already investing in multiple tools, this session will offer valuable perspective on making smarter technology decisions while protecting your clients and your bottom line.

Space is limited.

Join us for lunch and a timely conversation about what AI means for the future of your practice.

Shane Reid is the CEO of USC Data, which means he spends his days asking business owners a question most would rather avoid: “Do you actually know what’s in your files?” An Australian who traded Sydney for North Texas, Shane built his career in financial services data, where an audit trail is the difference between a good day and a very bad one. He founded Umlaut Solutions, USC Data’s parent, in 2016. He’s spent the decade since helping firms clean up, lock down and organize their data, so AI and automation actually work instead of exposing what’s lying around. When he’s not untangling SharePoint, he’s poolside as the dad of two competitive swimmers, or being their Uber driver.
