Grilled Asparagus

Grilled asparagus is one of the easiest recipes in this book. I don’t know the reasons why, but asparagus on the grill is so much better than steamed, boiled, baked, or sauteed asparagus. All it takes is salt, pepper, Avocado oil, and asparagus over an open flame on a grill.

Ingredients:

  • Asparagus

  • Avacado oil or olive oil. We prefer avocado oil for this dish since it is heated on a grill.

  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat the grill to about 350 degrees. You can use higher or lower temperatures if you are cooking meat on the grill, but be careful with high heat as the asparagus can become quickly overcooked.

  2. Place the asparagus in a bowl or plate. Spray with oil. After tossing, salt and pepper to taste, then toss again.

  3. Place the asparagus on the grill. We use a Kamado Joe grill set up and either use a standard grill or the vegetable half moon surface (best choice because no risk of losing the asparagus between grill gates). You can cook it on a griddle or pan, but I think it loses flavor versus straight on the grill.

  4. Asparagus will cook quickly on the grill. Rather than set time limits, I flip it every 5 minutes or so to get it to temperature.

  5. Remove and serve immediately.
