Celebrate Memorial Day 2017 With Carry The Load

Friends, As Memorial Day approaches it’s important to remember the service and sacrifice our veterans have done for all of us. Therefore, I would like to invite you to join me and my family in celebrating this Memorial Day weekend with Carry The Load, a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging people to celebrate Memorial Day in a meaningful way.

Carry The Load provides an interactive experience for you and your friends and family to enjoy.  The purpose is to honor, remember, and celebrate, law enforcement officers, firefighters, veterans, and active duty service members who gave their all as well as to help take care of their families.  Put another way, they are putting the "memorial" back into Memorial Day weekend.

The Dallas Memorial March includes a 23-hour walk starting at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 28, 2017 (the Sunday before Memorial Day) and concluding at 3 p.m. Monday.  I'll be "carrying the load" by walking along with my wife and three kids to honor the sacrifices made by others for our freedom and safety.

Carry the Load 2017 will benefit nonprofits Heroes on the Water, Snowball Express, Assist the Officer Foundation, National Fallen Firefighters Network, 22Kill, and many more organizations to continue their missions of service to our nation’s heroes.

So how can you get involved?

I encourage you to consider getting involved in one of four ways:

1)         Visit our Team Page and join our team to show your support. Follow This Link to join us and click on the blue "Join Team" button. You can join our team without making a donation or attending the walk. 2)         Help raise awareness of the event by sharing it with your friends via social media. 3)         Go to the opening ceremony to celebrate Dallas's veterans, particularly those that gave it all. The event is held at Reverchon Park, 3505 Maple Avenue, Dallas, TX 75219. 4)         Make a donation through our team page.  To make a donation, please Follow This Link and click on the red "Donate Now" button.

Thanks for joining us in 2016

I would like to thank all those who participated last year. You made a huge difference in 2016. More than 20,000 people gathered for the Dallas Memorial March. To date, your efforts have raised over $13 million. These funds not only helped support awareness programs like the Memorial Day events, but also allowed Carry the Load to strengthen our Continuum of Care programs by giving $1.1 million to our 17 local and national non-profit partners. And finally, CTL was able to expand its reach by creating an educational program, Carry the F.L.A.G., which provides Elementary, Middle School and High School students the opportunity to learn honor and respect for our flag, and to learn how our Veterans have sacrificed their lives for this sacred symbol.

Let’s build on this momentum!  The mission continues in 2017, and we need you again this year. As you are aware, this organization is rooted in and made up of solid, patriotic individuals. Carry the Load would not be able to honor and support our heroes if it were not for people like you.

Thank you if you have read this blog all the way! I hope you will support the cause either by donating, or better yet joining our team.
