New Spin on New Year's Resolution for Productivity in the Workplace

Reduce the negative to impact the positive, and add productivity in the workplace.

Reduce the negative to impact the positive, and add productivity in the workplace.

There are many positive changes that you can make in the New Year to add to your overall well-being; however, it is possible that an even more effective approach could be the process of eliminating the negative habits in your life that are weighing you down. Remember to always keep your approach to productivity in the workplace at the forefront as you start each new year. Make it a resolution to end these three things, which could be having a negative impact on your life without even realizing it.

Self-Doubt

This is an all too common offender for most people. You find yourself in a meeting or working on a project when you have an idea that you feel could be very helpful, and that is when your self-doubt kicks in. You start to second-guess yourself or become afraid of what other people might think, so you keep quiet and don’t offer your suggestion. You have to remember that your opinion matters and that it could in fact be very beneficial to your team.

Jealousy

This green monster tends to sneak his way into your thoughts, leading to frustration and the above-mentioned “self-doubt.” This can be a tough habit to break, but it can also be one of the most beneficial to you. If you only focus on yourself and what YOU can accomplish, then you are far less likely to be disappointed in, or doubt, yourself.

Agreeing to Everything

Saying "no" is hard for some people to do. You feel obligated to say "yes" to whatever the task may be. When this happens, you become stretched far too thin and begin to feel overwhelmed. This will cause you to not be as productive or efficient in any of the tasks that you are trying to accomplish, so it is okay to say "no". By saying "no" to some things, you are ultimately doing everyone involved a favor, and taking care of yourself at the same time.

So this year make the conscious decision to cut out the negative instead of piling on the positive. You will be amazed at the positive impact that it has on your life, in all aspects. You will feel better, be more productive in the workplace, and best of all gain more confidence in you!
