Drake’s presentation “Patent Challenges Under Section 101,” explored several subject matter examples from recent cases encompassing both abstract ideas and business methods. Drake also provided attendees with some of the best practices and considerations patent challengers and owners should ponder when raising a 101 challenge.

The two-day CLE was presented by the TexasBarCLE and co-sponsored by the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. Drake was recently elected as Chair Elect of the IP section for 2017-2018. See below for presentation materials and associated article.

Drake is experienced in many areas of intellectual property law and focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution, addressing a broad range of technologies. Drake earned a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude, in chemistry from Duke University.
