DALLAS – Klemchuk LLP, a leading intellectual property (IP), technology, and business law firm, announces the election of Kirby Drake, Managing Principal, to Vice Chair of the State Bar of Texas IP Section for 2016-2017. Drake previously served as Secretary. The IP Section has nearly 2,500 members and focuses on providing numerous member benefits, including 3 CLE programs per year. In addition, Drake will be Program Director for the Advanced IP CLE course in Austin, TX to be held on February 22-24, 2017. “Congratulations to Kirby and the IP Section of the State Bar. Kirby’s passion and enthusiasm for the SBOT IP Section will be a significant addition to the leadership team,” observed Darin M. Klemchuk, Managing Partner. “She will do a fantastic job furthering the SBOT IP Section’s goals and programs this year.”

Drake was also elected as Chair-Elect of the Women and the Law Section of the State Bar of Texas for 2016-2017. Drake previously served on the Section Council. The Women and the Law Section helps women lawyers stay informed of issues affecting them in their practices and lives. The section offers mentoring by women lawyers, for women lawyers, as well as monthly CLE teleconferences and a CLE during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting.

Drake is experienced in many areas of intellectual property law and focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation and patent prosecution, addressing a broad range of technologies. Drake earned a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in chemistry from Duke University.
