Managing Principal Gary Sorden Quoted in ‘The Texas Lawbook’
DALLAS – Klemchuk LLP, a leading intellectual property (IP), technology, and business law firm, announces Gary Sorden, Managing Principal, was quoted in an IP article concerning patents in the Texas Lawbook. The article "Patent Infringement Lawsuits Plummet, but EDTX Still Dominates IP Litigation" explored the 33% drop of patent infringement complaints in Texas from 2015 to 2016.
Sorden attributed the drop to recent changes in patent prosecution procedures, which caused a spike in patent filings during November 2015 and which set the bar for the following year.
The article specifically highlighted the drop in filings in Eastern District of Texas known as the “Rocket Docket” for its popularity among patent practitioners.
The article appeared in the Dallas Business Journal in the January 20 issue, and is available on the Texas Lawbook website.
Sorden is experienced in IP law and primarily focuses on commercial and intellectual property litigation in the areas of software, electrical, mechanical, semiconductor, and chemical technologies. Sorden earned a J.D. from Texas Tech School of Law, a M.S. in Engineering Management from Southern Methodist University and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas – Pan American.
