Klemchuk LLP Hosts 14th Annual Ethics CLE on April 20, 2018

DALLAS – Klemchuk LLP, a leading intellectual property (IP), technology, and business law firm, announces its 14th Annual Ethics CLE Event to be held April 20, 2018 at Seasons 52 Dallas. Check-in begins at 2 p.m., with the main presentation starting promptly at 2:30. Participants will be able to get 90-minute Ethics CLE credit, after which attendees are encouraged to stay for a networking Happy Hour.

This year, we are excited to announce Charles M. Hosch, Partner at Strasburger & Price, and Shawn Tuma of Scheef & Stone as our speakers.

Charles M. Hosch is a privacy, data management and cybersecurity lawyer with more than 30 years’ experience in both transactions and litigation. Charles handles all aspects of the use and trade-secret protection of data and technology.  He has protected trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets throughout his career.  He has served as outside general counsel to middle-market businesses and is an experienced mediator. Charles is co-chair of Strasburger’s Privacy, Data and Cybersecurity practice and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.  He serves as an adjunct faculty member at SMU Dedman School of Law, and is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

In the CLE, Charles will explore the Texas Ethics Opinion 671 and common ethics concerns attorneys face when conducting an online investigation.

Shawn Tuma (@shawnetuma) is an attorney with an internationally recognized reputation in cybersecurity, computer fraud, and data privacy law. He is a Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Attorney at Scheef & Stone, LLP, a full-service commercial law firm in Texas where he regularly serves as outside cybersecurity and privacy counsel to a wide range of companies from small to mid-sized businesses to Fortune 100 enterprises. Shawn is an avid blogger on the Business Cyber Risk Blog.

Shawn will discuss the ethical responsibilities attorneys have to protect confidential information in the event of a cyber attack. Additionally, he will share the best practices law firms may follow to protect themselves against possible cybersecurity attacks.
