Jim Chester to Lead E-Commerce and Internet Business Practice Group

Dallas, Texas, 12 April 2011 – The Dallas-based intellectual property law firm of Klemchuk Kubasta LLP announces that Senior Partner J.F. (Jim) Chester, JD/LL.M, has been selected to lead the firm’s E-Commerce and Internet Business Practice Group. Each year a larger percentage of business is conducted over the web, and today’s online companies face a multitude of legal issues as they conduct business electronically and over the Internet. The E-Commerce and Internet Business Practice Group draws on the expertise of attorneys from several of the firm’s practice area concentrations, including: traditional intellectual property law (patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright), technology and business transactions law, and even international trade law.

“The core of e-commerce and Internet business law involve elements of intellectual property, business law, and regulatory law,” said Chester. “However, the unique and mercurial nature of business conducted on and over the web presents unique challenges not addressed by traditional law firm practice groups. By combining experience, we are better able to identify and address the challenges and issues faced by our clients operating on the web.”

Common matters handled by the E-Commerce and Internet Business Practice Group include: Domain-name registration and disputes; Privacy policies; Terms of Use, web reviews, DMCA compliance, Internet agreements and transactions, as well as sales/acquisition of web sites, domains, and e-businesses, among others.

Darin Klemchuk, Co-Managing Partner of the firm adds, “Like our clients, Klemchuk Kubasta strives to be an industry leader through innovation and a commitment to client service. The formation of the E-Commerce and Internet Business Practice Group is a prime example of that innovation and commitment.”
