Klemchuk Kubasta Attorneys Recognized as Texas Rising Stars, a Thomson Reuters service
Kirby Drake and Kelsey Weir Johnson Named to Prestigious 2013 List
Klemchuk Kubasta LLP (KK LLP), a leading full-service intellectual property (IP) law firm, announces Kirby Drake and Kelsey Weir Johnson have been recognized by Thomson Reuters as 2013 Texas Rising Stars. Drake, a Partner with the Firm, has been named a Rising Star in Intellectual Property Litigation, and Johnson, a Senior Associate, has been named a Rising Star in Business Litigation.
“Fewer than 2.5 percent of Texas attorneys are named to the Rising Stars list each year, and everyone at the Firm is extremely proud of the fact that both Kirby and Kelsey have been recognized,” said Darin M. Klemchuk, managing partner of Klemchuk Kubasta.
Texas Super Lawyers has a strict set of guidelines and a thorough selection process. To qualify, lawyers are asked to nominate the best attorneys age 40 or under, or those who have been practicing for 10 years or fewer. In order for an attorney to be nominated, another lawyer must personally observe these individuals in action. Additionally, an attorney-led research team reviews the credentials of potential candidates and assigns points based on a set of defined evaluation criteria. Those with the highest point totals are named to the Rising Stars list.
Drake has been named a Rising Star six times since 2007. While her intellectual property litigation practice primarily focuses on patent litigation, she has extensive litigation experience in all areas of intellectual property, including trade secret, patent, trademark, confidential information and breach of contract matters. Drake also maintains a practice in patent prosecution and other patent-related counseling in a wide variety of technologies. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University School of Law, and graduated cum laude from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. She is licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as various federal courts.
Johnson represents clients in a variety of litigation matters ranging from commercial and business disputes to all types of intellectual property litigation. She has extensive experience in both federal and state courts, as well as in intellectual property enforcement. Johnson received her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Duke University School of Law and also graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Duke University.
