Beat The Afternoon Blues: Tips for Productivity in the Workplace

Got the afternoon blues at work? Struggling with your productivity in the workplace when 3:00 p.m. hits?

A great afternoon starts with a great morning. Here are some helpful tips to build energy throughout your day:

1. Productive Light: Keep your office and workplace well lit. Bright lights in the morning trick your body into thinking it is time to be up.

2. Eat a healthy meal for breakfast: Avoid foods high in sugar which cause a crash in the afternoon. Try having fresh fruit, mixed nuts or other foods full of omega-3.

3. Get moving: Find ways to get your blood pumping and muscles moving. Staying active for at least 10 minutes in the morning will give you enough energy to steer clear of coffee. Take a few breaks throughout your day to stretch.

4. Drink ice water: Half of a gallon to a gallon of water is the ideal amount you want to drink per day. Keeping your body hydrated with water keeps your body free of toxins. A lack of water leads to dehydration and can prevent you from functioning properly in return, makes you exhausted.

Learn your rhythm and keep a solid morning routine to keep your energy level high throughout your entire day. Skip the “energy” drinks and implement these simple methods to boost your energy instead, and your body will thank you.
